"BACKLIGHT In 1937 most of Arlington County's businesses were of the service variety: grocery stores, laundries, etc. Entrepreneur Roderick Henderson Sr.'s business was sevice-driven, and then some. Henderson's got started on 1317 N. 19th St. in Rosslyn, in 1927, delivering ice and coal to Northwest Washington. There was also Henderson's Express and Transfer, which offered moving services and operated out of the same site, and if that wasn't enough there was a 40-foot counter where you could order a hot dog or a bowl of beans. When the Depression hit, Henderson was known to extend credit to customers he knew could not pay him back, yet he managed to keep on two three-man moving crews, even when there was nothing for them to do but sit at the counter and dream. Henderson's moved to South Arlington in the '60s,closing down everything save the moving business. Roderick Jr. has been running the company for nearly 30 years."

Anthony came out to our house to give us an estimate, he arrived on time and gave an accurate estimate for the number of hours he thought it would take to move us.
The moving crew (Alex, Thomas, Robert and Steven) were friendly, polite, hard working and extremely efficient. They worked very well together, and were able to anticipate the others next moves. They moved our belongings with care, taking time to wrap our furniture with pads, and securing them with tape and cling film to ensure they stayed safe. They brought wardrobe boxes for our hanging clothes which they loaded and unloaded. The guys worked very hard and took minimal breaks. I would recommend Henderson's to anyone and everyone! They did a great job! I will certainly use them again!"
